Squid Game-themed K-pop concert draws thousands of fans in Istanbul

ISTANBUL, TURKEY - NOVEMBER 27: South Korean K-Pop group A.C.E gave a special concert for the 10th Anniversary of the Korean Cultural Center in Istanbul, Turkey on Saturday (Nov. 27).The Squid Game-themed concert which was held in cooperation with the Korea Cultural Center and the Korea Tourism organization took place at the Tim Show Center.The boy band held a fan meeting after the concert and played traditional South Korean games.The A.C.E members dressed up as Squid Game characters carried out some missions and carved out a shape etched into “Dalgona” candy that became famous worldwide after Squid Game aired.The South Korean Netflix drama Squid Game tells the story of hundreds of participants struggling with debt who compete in a series of children’s games with a violent twist to win the final 45.6 billion won (38.7 million USD) prize.The series was released on September 17 and received an overwhelming response from viewers worldwide but it has also been criticized for showing violence and gore. Last October, Netflix said Squid Game has become its biggest TV show ever, while the company saw its number of subscribers increase in the third quarter of this year.
