Tony Blair interview about Iranian hostage situation; - I cannot tell / We are talking to other partners in UN / Iran is subject to two outstanding resolutions from the UN security council they are not complying with / Will have to step up pressure in EU and UN to get them to understand that its not only wrong but it will only end in further tension and difficulty - I'm not interested in confrontation for its own sake / Important thing is to get the fifteen personnel back safe and sound / Don't want to take macho position / Fact of the matter is we have tried saying to them be sensible about this, this is not something that has happened because we have gone into Iranian waters / They were in Iraqi waters and they've got to be released- Don't think anyone is against dismissing it in a way that allows our people to get back safe and sound / What we can't do is end up negotiating over hostages / Can't say that there is some quid pro quo / That is not acceptable / We have to be clear that these people have to be released / They were carrying out a UN mandate in Iraqi waters / I have no problem saying it is a misunderstanding let's sort it out / But that's not the issue / Have to be patient / Not be heavy and confrontational but to be clear to Iranians that pressure will be stepped up bit by bit / The original coordinates they gave were inside Iraqi waters
