ECOWAS sanctions impact healthcare access in Niger's border areas

GAYA, NIGER - SEPTEMBER 10: The Gaya Regional Hospital in Niger, which is located near the border with Benin and Nigeria, was videoed by Anadolu on Sunday (Sep. 10). Following the military's takeover of power in Niger, people in the border regions of Benin and Nigeria are struggling to access medical treatment. The closure of borders due to ECOWAS sanctions to Niger has resulted in a decrease in patients coming to the hospital from the borders for medical care. Sanoussi Adamou, a doctor at the hospital, said that with the closure of borders, despite the lack of medical treatment in Nigeria and Benin, the number of patients coming from these countries has decreased.
