Special food bases set up to satisfy hungry wild elephants, prevent conflicts with humans

So far, Pu'er City has set up well over 260 hectares' worth of food bases and 32 artificial nitrate ponds in areas where Asian elephants have been known to frequently wander. Local government authorities have also stocked up food sources in key areas during important time periods to reduce the likelihood of elephant venturing into villages, so as to prevent any elephant-human conflicts occurring and protect residents' interests. In addition to Pu'er City, such food base stations have also been established at other sites across Yunnan where wild elephants are active, including in the Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture.
