Lviv Remains Haven And Staging Ground As Russia Focuses Assault On Eastern Ukraine

In this video illustration, a limited edition "Snake Island" stamp, commemorating the moment when a Ukrainian soldier defiantly replied "Russian warship, go f*ck yourself!" when ordered to surrender, is displayed on May 9, 2022 in Lviv, Ukraine. The huge demand for the run of one million stamps when originally sold in post offices caused the sales to move online, resulting in the website crashing. When finally placed back on sale, the limited extra run of 30,000 sold out within hours. Lviv has served as a stopover and shelter for the millions of Ukrainians fleeing the Russian invasion, either to the safety of nearby countries or the relative security of western Ukraine.
