See through public toilets - latest novelty from Japan

TOKYO, JAPAN - AUGUST 22: An award-winning Japanese architect has unveiled a unique public toilet facility with see-through walls.The transparent toilets are made of smart glass that can be seen through from the outside but turns a frosty opaque color when in use. Prtzker architectural prize winner Ban Shigeru designed the toilet facilities that will be installed in public parks. Transparent from the outside the toilets have an electrical current that turns them opaque when the door is locked from the inside. They are also designed for public safety as its easy for a potential user to see whether the toilet is available. This latest Japanese facility is part of the Tokyo Toilet Project which oversees 17 different new and unique public toilet projects in the Japanese capital. Shigeru's public toilets are colorful and come in shades of green and blue, pink, purple, and even tangerine. The transparent walls are expected to increase the use of public toilets by removing the question of whether the place is clean and whether or not there is someone inside.
