While her brother apparently sinks beneath the surface of plastic balls, a three year-old girl scrabbles up a small slide in the Croydon branch of IKEAS's crache facility, allowing parent shoppers to browse the store while their children frolic in the ball pond. Designed to encourage adventure and stimulate developing senses, the kids play on their own in this safe environment. From a personal documentary project entitled "Next of Kin" about the photographer's two children's early years spent in parallel universes.
