The world's largest keffiyeh, the traditional black-and-white chequerred Arab headdress, is laid on the grounds of Beirut's Sport City Stadium on May 15, 2010 to form the number 194, signifying the 1948 United Nations resolution that grants Palestinians the right to return to their homes in Israeli-occupied land, during an event to mark the 62nd anniversary of the Nakba or "catastrophe" of Israel's creation 62 year ago. The 6,552-metre (21,496 feet) chain of scarves was laid out by more than 100 Lebanese and Palestinian volunteers. The record, overseen by a Guinness World Records official, breaks a previous entry of a 2,932-metre (9,619 feet) scarft set in Spain in August 2009.
