The house designed by architect Steven Shortridge for TV producer John Melfi, the outdoor areas were featured in the magazine, we focus on the architecture and interiors. The genius of the home is the split–level design. Rather than have three floors stacked on top of each other, you have rooms at lots of different levels, separated by a few stairs here and there. The biggest challenge will be showing how these spaces relate to one another –– how the kitchen leads to the dining area, and the dining area connects to the living room, etc. –– how the house unfolds with the use of mini sets of stairs. In addition to conveying the split–level nature of the design, we also to convey how the home is open and filled with light but still private –– it is not overexposed to the street or to neighbors.
