HEBRON, -: Palestinian electrician Raid Sharawi hangs decorative lamps in the shape of the Muslim crescent and star in preparation for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan outside his shop in the West Bank town of Hebron 19 September 2006. One lighting fixture costs some 50 shekels or 11 US dollars and Sharawi sells them by piece or in a string of 15 for people to hang outside their homes. Ramadan is marked by Muslims refraining from eating, drinking and sex from dawn to dusk throughout the holy month, which is expected to start around September 24 depending on sightings of the crescent moon.
