Capital Self-Storage to become a boutique hotel
WASHINGTON, DC-OCT14: Leon Savoy (right), is the first to enter Capital Self-Storage, as he crawls under the gate as it opens in the morning, October 16, 2015, so he can get in his unit and change his clothes before heading to his job as a furniture restorer. Savoy is currently homeless and living at a nearby shelter. Many of the area homeless have possessions they want to keep safe, just nowhere permanent to live, so they store their belongings at Capital Self-Storage, where an upper-level unit costs $30/month. Some of the homeless patrons also spend their days in their storage units, when shelters are closed during midday hours. The storage facility near 3rd and Florida Avenue in Northeast, Washington, DC, is about to be replaced by a boutique hotel. (Photo by Evelyn Hockstein/For The Washington Post via Getty Images)
