John Teevan, assistant to Dr. William Beebe, opening the bathysphere, in which Dr. Beebe, accompanied by Otis Barton, another scientist, descended more than a half mile below the ocean's surface at Nonesuch Island near Bermuda on August 15th. Although the steel ball was under water for a period of two hours and 46 minutes, 2 hours and 41 minutes of that time was required to raise and lower it. Much valuable data was obtained in the epoch making dive. | Location: Nonsuch Island, Bermuda.
