Light micrograph of multinucleated histiocytic giant cells. These cells have multiple nuclei (round blue dots) within their cytoplasm (pink to light blue). These cells form from the fusion of many tissue macrophages in response to foreign bodies or in other inflammatory conditions. Also seen in this image are some small blood vessels containing red blood cells (bright red). Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: 200x when printed at 10cm
