PACINIAN CORPUSCLES in the Subcutaneous Layer of the SKIN (Human), 50X. This image shows many structures in the skin. The EPIDERMIS shows several layers: Stratum Corneum (with a sweat gland duct), Stratum Granulosum, Stratum Spinosum, and Stratum Basale (or Stratum Germinitivum). The DERMIS is the thickest layer consisting mostly of dense fibrous connective tissue--it also shows a sweat gland duct descending toward the sweat glands. The SUBCUTANEOUS LAYER shows three PACINIAN CORPUSCLES, sweat glands, an abundance of adipose tissue, and connective tissue.
