Senator Sanders press statement on pharmaceutical industry lobbying

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders says at a news conference with Democrats on prescription drug prices that as a result of the incredible wealth and political power of the pharmaceutical industry, Americans were forced to pay the highest prices for drugs in the world, the way Washington works. Sanders says in 20 years drug companies had spent nearly $4 billion on lobbying and campaign contributions, employing 1400 well-paid lobbyists, that recently Novartis had paid Trump attorney Michael Cohen over $1 million to gain access, and there were three lobbyists for each of the 535 members of Congress.
