Taiwan Imports Office Chair Race From Japan

Residents of Tainan in southern Taiwan got to enjoy a spectacle on April 24 , 2016, as contestants careened around tight turns in a race of caster-equipped office chairs through one of the city’s central commercial districts. A 30-meter time trial and two-hour and one-hour enduros around a 186-meter course were part of the race day program. The event was inspired by a similar race held in Kyotanabe, Kyoto Prefecture, as a way to bring attention to the city. Representatives from Tainan took part in the Kyotanabe race held this past March. It was the first time for the race to be held outside Japan.
