Massive protest demonstrations were Friday held against the establishment of Sainik Colonies, KP Townships, and implementation of new state Industrial policy in Indian administered Kashmir. A joint programme for shutdown on Thursday and subsequent peaceful protests after Friday prayers across Jammu and Kashmir was given by both Hurriyat factions led by Mirwaiz Umar and Syed Ali Geelani and JKLF led by Muhammad Yasin Malik. While JKLF leaders marched from JKLF headquarters in Maisuma to Gaw Kadal, its chief Yasin Malik has been lodged in Kothi Bagh Police station. “After Friday prayers we tried to take out procession from Maqbool Manzil. As the procession reached near Budshah Bridge heavy deployment of forces foiled the march,” a JKLF spokesperson informed.
