Margaret Thatcher dies aged 87: Tony Blair interview; USA: Washington: INT Tony Blair (former Prime Minister) interview SOT - Reaction to news of death of Margaret Thatcher - she was a towering global figure who made a vast impact - changes she made have stood the test of time - (on what he owes to Thatcher) on a personal level she was immensely kind and generous to me when I was Prime Minister / staff in Downing Street always spoke really warmly of her / politically certain reforms she left, trade union law, we didn't nationalise many of the state industries that she privatised / I always thought my job was to build on some of the things she had done rather than reverse them - many of the things she said although it pained people like me on the left to say, have had a certain amount of credibility and - the strongest thing about Margaret Thatcher was that she was a genuine leader / conviction politician - on her being a divisive figure - on lasting legacy for UK-American relations
