Pelosi Says Combining Taxes And Spending Too Big A Bill

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California tells reporters that if legislation regarding taxes and omnibus are combined, she would not go for that package, and that no one else would vote for it, and that it would not pass alas the House Republican majority has the needed votes. Says that an extended bill is far too expensive, is destructive, in the wrong way to go into permanent tax extenders. Says there are a couple of provisions such as the child tax credit, crediting President George W. Bush, but that Republicans do not want to extend the benefit. Adds that lifting the ban on exporting domestic crude oil is too much. Pelosi is asked by a third reporter about the year end package adding to the deficit. Says that democrats traded small business tax credits but that they should not be made permanent and not pay for in the Federal budget. Says Congress has to find the money to pay for the Zadroga Health and Compensation Act providing care for those who worked at the World Trade Center site in September 2001, saying we owe them.
