Relatives of landmine victims in Colombia produce medicinal plants with government support

FLORENCIA, CAQUETA, COLOMBIA - MAY 25: Families of Colombian landmine victims who were killed or injured by stepping on anti-personnel landmines make contributions to the country's economy through businesses established with the support of the government. A Colombian mother, Luz Aide Estrada, who resides in Florencia, a city in the Caqueta administrative region in the southern part of the country is one of those families who has been engaged in organic farming on land given by the government. Estrada’s son became disabled after stepping on a landmine while serving as a professional soldier. In response to the incident, the government provided compensation to the mother and donated a sloping terrain in Santo Domingo village, located a few kilometers away from the city center. Aide and her husband transformed the land into an extraordinary farm and eventually started practicing organic farming and producing medicinal plants.
