Disinfecting Teams Clean Istanbul's Grand Bazaar Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

ISTANBUL, TURKEY - MARCH 18: Employees of the Grand Bazaar cleaning department disinfect the streets and shops inside Istanbul's famous Grand Bazaar to prevent the spread of the COVID-19, coronavirus on March 18, 2020 in Istanbul, Turkey. Every night since the outbreak of the Coronavirus cleaning teams have spent more than 5 hours a night disinfecting the 61 covered streets and more than 3,000 shops inside the historic market to help keep the area virus free and open to tourists and shoppers. Turkey has confirmed two deaths and 191 positive cases of the coronavirus, officials continue to implement steps to contain the spread of the virus with the Interior Ministry announcing cafes, cinemas, restaurants, shish-a cafes, bars and gyms will close adding to schools, universities and sporting events that were closed last week. The Presidency of Religious Affairs also issued a statement restricting daily and weekly prayer gatherings at mosques across the country, asking citizens to pray at home. Teams of municipality workers have begun cleaning and disinfecting areas frequented by large groups of people, including mosques, metro stations, churches and tourist attractions in a bid to stop the spread of the virus.
