Ed Balls interview; ENGLAND: London: EXT Ed Balls MP (Shadow Chancellor) interview SOT - economy has been stalling over a year now its gone into reverse - confirms what families and businesses know - George Osborne should take some responsibility - its his decision to raise taxes and cut spending too quickly and too fast which has choked off this recovery and he needs to change course quickly - Eurozone dangerous for Britain this year but what these figures show is that our economy has stalled for well over a year already - We've ripped out of foundation of Britain's house as the global hurricane was forming - Osborne's spending review, growth lower than Europe and US, he made the wrong call - we warned him it wouldn't work - he should change course now - without growth and jobs we cannot get this deficit under control - George Osborne should listen to IMF, needs immediate action on growth and jobs, if he doesn't do this now we'll have worse decisions on spending and tax in the future - this austerity is self defeating thats what we are seeing now - (at Prime Ministers question time) going to see if Cameron has got any answers, whether he takes any responsibility .. not holding my breath - (re North East, slowest recovery) What we're seeing is an economy stagnating.. private jobs not recovering - public jobs being hit hard - the whole country is suffering - I think the economy is being choked off - there is no doubt in the economy in North East is very hard hit - will be a very tough few years
