Hija, INDIA: Young women from the Arunachal Pradesh tribe Apatani perform a traditional dance during celebrations for the Dree Festival in the village of Hija, some 200kms north of Itanagar, 06 July 2007, Dree is one of the important festivals of the Apatani tribe,in the north-eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh which is closely related to agriculture, the mainstay of their economy. In this festival held annually in the first week of July and following the planting of paddy, the Apatanis worship for a bountiful harvest and to protect their crops from pests and other natural calamities.
