Tensions Grow As Demonstrations Against The Government Continue In Istanbul

ISTANBUL, TURKEY-JUNE 2: The injured were taken to the mosque in Besiktas during the fighting between protestors and Istanbul police to reach the Prime Minister's building June 2, 2013 in Istanbul, Turkey. Many suffered head injuries and trauma from being shot with police gas canisters. Others were suffering from respitory issues from breathing tear gas. People started peacefully protesting the government's project to tear down Taksim's Gezi Park to build a mall. After police tried to forcefully eject them, protests turned into anti-government violence.
