JUL 23 1950, AUG 29 1953, NOV 5 1959, DEC 14 1999; Phyllis Lockwood, Boulder star, will be among the more highly regarded entrants in the women's singles of the Denver City tennis tourney which opens next Saturday.; These Colorandans and former world heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey have been selected byt he Helms Foundation as the greatest athletes to come out to Colorado. They were selected by sports writers and sports authorities during a poll conducted to choose the "greatest athletes" from all states. white, now a Denver attorney, was chosen the state's top "Amateur" athlete in 1937 when he earned All-American football honors at the University of Colorado. He also received a Rhodes scholarship to Oxford university.
