Lincoln Cathedral sits high on the skyline, across the city from terraced housing. In the distance, the cathedral stands dominating the city. Building commenced in 1088 and continued in several phases throughout the medieval period. It was reputedly the tallest building in the world for 238 years (1311–1549). Lincoln is a cathedral city and county town of Lincolnshire, England. The non-metropolitan district of Lincoln has a 2011 population of 93,541.
