Sir Moore-Brabazon of Tara, c 1944.

ENGLAND - AUGUST 06: A Kodachrome colour photograph of John Theodore Cuthbert Moore-Brabazon (1884-1964), taken by JCA Redhead (1886-1954) during World War Two. Moore-Brabazon was made Lord Brabazon of Tara in the 1940s after serving as Minister of Transport and later Minister of Aircraft Production during World War Two. A pioneer aviator, he made his first flight in 1908. In World War One he played a leading role in developing aerial photography. After World War Two he became involved in civil aviation. In 1949 he persuaded the government to finance the building of the Bristol Brabazon, a giant aeroplane named after him. It was the largest plane ever built in Britain, with a 70-metre wingspan and room for up to 180 passengers. Kodachrome, regarded as the first 'modern' colour process, was announced by Kodak in 1935.
