India's nuclear reactor on the River Ganga

India's only functional nuclear reactor on the banks of the River Ganga, function safely according to the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL). Twin 220 MW Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors have been operating at Narora generating electricity since 1991. Situated in a high seismic zone just about 150 kilometres from New Delhi, the plant has withstood earthquakes. In 1993 a fire caused loss of power to the plant and became India's 'Fukushima moment' but no radioactivity was released. (Photo by Pallava Bagla/Corbis via Getty Images)
