Hastings, UNITED KINGDOM: A participant dressed as Saxon King Harold (L) takes part in an event to re-enact the 1066 Battle of Hastings at Battle Abbey, East Sussex, 14 October 2006. Over three thousand participants from 18 different countries took part in the 940th anniversary re-enactment of the Battle of Hastings. The event aims to replicate the Norman and Saxon battle between William, the Duke of Normandy and Saxon King Harold for the Crown of England.
