Test Goat Being Given a Transfusion

(Original Caption) Feet sticking out from under clean sheets, a patient Angora Goat, known as number 23, gets a blood transfusion in the hold of the attack transport USS Burleson, docked at the Washington Navy Yard. The Burleson arrived Sept. 23rd, with a load of 2500 goats, pigs, and rats used in the Bikini atom bomb tests. Many of the animals developed an anemic condition from the effects of the bombing and had to be given transfusions in order to keep up their blood count.
