Finishing Touches Are Made To The Royal Artillery Memorial After Its Restoration

LONDON, ENGLAND - NOVEMBER 04: A bronze sculpture of a gunner stands on the Royal Artillery Memorial at Hyde Park Corner on 4, 2011 in London, England. English Heritage has carefully repaired and cleaned the monument in time for Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday. The memorial dates from 1921-25 and was designed by Charles Jagger and Lionel Pearson. It is dedicated to the casualties in the British Royal Regiment of Artillery in the First World War. The monument features a sculpture of a howitzer upon a large plinth of Portland stone with stone reliefs depicting scenes from the conflict. Around its pedestal stands three bronze gunners with a fourth lying dead under a greatcoat.
