The Finding of Moses, sometimes called Moses in the Bullrushes, Moses Saved from the Waters, or other variants, is the story in chapter 2 of the Book of Exodus in the Hebrew Bible of the finding in the River Nile of Moses as a baby by the daughter of Pharaoh.Queen Bithia finding Moses in a through Pharaoh's daughter (identified as Queen Bithia in the Midrash), the child was adopted as a foundling from the Nile and grew up with the Egyptian royal family.Exodus 2:310. The infant Moses was placed by his mother in a basket and hidden beside the river, to escape the edict of the king of Egypt that all male offspring of the Israelites should be slain at birth. The basket was discovered by the kings daughter when she came to the river to bathe with her maidservants. Seeing the princess take pity on the child, Mosess sister Miriam, who had been keeping watch from a distance, approached and offered to find a nurse for him.
