Berlin, Germany - January 2017: view of the Reichstag building from its dome. Today, the Reichstag is seat of the German parliament, the Bundestag. The construction was completed in 1894 following German national unity and the establishment of the German Reich in 1871. It was damaged by a fire in 1933 and during the Second World War. Following German reunification in 1990 the building was renovated and the Bundestag (German Federal Parliament) decided to make the Reichstag the seat of Parliament in Berlin, the restored capital of reunited Germany.
