Taghdumbash Pamir is part of the Pamir Mountains which consists of world's highest mountains. While the elevation of Tashkurgan is above 3000 meters, one can only imagine how high it is up there on the mountains seen in this background. As seen here, much of Pamir Mountains are mountain deserts. But in Tashkurgan, it's haven. Streams originating from Tashkurgan River have been encouraging green pasture. Travelers of the Silk Road had flocked here.
