Back design on a narrow playing card showing delicate drawings of Egyptian hieroglyphs, including the massive statue of a pharaoh being dragged along on a kind of sledge. The draweing is based on an Egyptian wall painting from nearly 4000 years go. The original painting is in the tomb of Djehoetihotep, who was provincial governor of Upper Egypt in 1880 BC. This is the painting that led to the conclusion that massive statues such as this were eased along on sledges, with a man wetting the sand and thousands of slaves pushing and dragging. There are many other aspects of Egyptian life shown here, such as ploughing and a cart drawn by bullocks.
