Many plants use hooks to attach to the fur of passing animals. These seeds include cleavers or goose grass and burdock. Inspired by these natural snares, Velcro consists of two different parts, one has coils of plastic thread which are split to form hooks. The other consists of a tangle of finer threads which get caught by the hooks on the first part. This is a scanning electron micrograph. original mag is x200
