When you cannot go to the grocery store as conveniently as usual, it is a good idea to keep salted salmon or "shiojake" in store, because it is so versatile. One of the dishes you can make out of salted salmon is salmon fried rice or "Sake Chahan". Please note that "sake" here is not wine. The kanji character used here is "salmon", different kanji for wine.
