Malva mauritiana / Malva sylvestris, commonly called Common Mallow, is an erect, bushy, perennial flower spikes adorned with 5-petaled, pink flower with striking raspberry-purple veins. Blooming from late spring to early summer in Japan, the flowers are produced in abundance in the leaf axils.Common mallow is used traditionally as a herbal medicine for asthma, bronchitis, coughing, throat infection and other treatment. The dried flowers and extracts are used in tea blends and over-the--counter medication for a relief of cough.
